More Holga Pictures – Late Winter, Early Spring

•April 17, 2010 • Leave a Comment
Here are some of my favorite pictures from my second roll of film (Fujifilm Pro 800Z 120) shot with my Holga 120N camera. These are shots from Fort Morgan, CO (Church and Cables Restaurant), Orchard, CO (Al’s Service), and the rest from Pueblo, CO while visiting my daughter.

The church picture was my first attempt at a double exposure, as I was trying to blend the church with some grave side markers but as you can see the markers don’t stick out very much.

For some reason, it is always fun to drive by the old gas station in Orchard to see what state of disrepair it is in and how well it is holding up over the years. During the big car show held every year in Fort Morgan this is one of the stops on the Sunday Poker Run and the participants get a nice picture of themselves in the car in front of this old building.

Cable’s Restaurant is one of most visited eating establishments in Fort Morgan and the vines that cover the north side of the building are such a treat to watch how they change over the seasons.

Of course, when I get a chance to visit my wonderful daughter in Pueblo, CO, we always try to get out somewhere and take pictures together. I have always wanted to take the time and get a shot or two of the beautiful sound wall that the city has placed along Highway 47 by Colorado State Universally Pueblo. I my opinion this wall is a “work-of-art” and compliments the City of Pueblo and represents the mission and dedication of the city to rebuild itself.

All of these shots were take with my Holga 120N that I received as a gift for Christmas from my lovely wife. I am having a lot of fun with this format and I hope to get out a lot more this spring and summer to take advantage of its’ unique abilities.

Here are a few pictures I took in Pueblo, Colorado at The Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum. Had a great time there looking at all the vintage aircraft and wonderful displays including uniforms, emblems, equipment and much more. If you are flying buff, this would be a great stop to check out.

First Holga Pictures

Here are a few shots from my new Holga 120N camera that I got for Christmas…  I messed up on the film advancement as I was using the wrong setting on the camera for this option, but, I kind of like the way the bleed is on the edges .. different for sure.

I look forward to experimenting with masks and double exposures with this camera.

Annual Chile & Frijoles Festival 2007

•December 20, 2009 • Leave a Comment
Here are some pictures I took while at the Annual Chilie & Frijoles Festival 2007 in Pueblo, CO. This annual event just gets bigger every year. It is held downtown mostly on Historic Union Avenue and now lasts for 3 full days.

There are so many different elements to this festival and I have tried to capture some of the ones that interest me the most. The historic architecture, the colorful displays of the fall harvest, the music, the food and all of the people, makes this festival one of the best in Colorado.

One of my favorite experiences at this festival is the aroma in the air of all of the roasting chilies – it is so wonderful and ultimately, it is all about the Chili!!

Pike Place Market – Seattle

•November 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment
We took an Alaskan Cruise in ’08 and except for maybe the calving of the glaciers (truly amazing), our short time at the Pike Place Market in Seattle was one of the most memorable. We just don’t see this kind of an open air (mostly) market anywhere in Colorado, except for some of the wonderful seasonal roadside vegetable and fruit markets.
We can’t wait to go back to Seattle and spend a lot more time exploring the Pike Place Market and the rest of this beautiful city.
Here are few of the images I took while we were there.
